Apple Week - Applesauce making day!

After we graphed the color, we measured the height of our apple with linking cubes and weighed an apple on a balance scale.
Then we started peeling and coring the apples and adding them to the crock pot.

We added a little cinnamon and let it cook for 3 hours.
Then we all helped mash the apples.
The students kept saying the apples melted, we talked about what made them change, and that they didn't melt, but got smaller and softer because of the heat. (HUGE science lesson here!)

And lastly, we were able to taste the apple sauce.
Though everyone enjoyed helping to make the applesauce,
there were 2 students who still didn't want to taste it.
Those that did, really seemed to like it and
many students had seconds.
