We were able to see how the dough was made, manipulate some dough ourselves, go into the big refridgerator, and then make our own pizza!

WE ARE READING!!
We have been working on sight words and short a words and put them all together to read our first reader ~ Sam the Cat! It is so exciting to see this growth in the students! And they are so proud of themselves!

We worked on making a snowball by wrapping yarn dipped in glue around a balloon. Boy was this hard! Mrs. Shook didn't realize how difficult this would be for the students, but they really had fun trying!!

We read about Martin Luther King, Jr. this week. We discussed the differences in people and made a diversity quilt that is displayed outside our classroom. We also made peace doves and are working on solving disagreements peacefully in school.

Show and Tell is tomorrow and I can't wait to see what exciting items the students bring. We will write about our show and tell in our journal before we show our friends!

January, 2011

We are back to school after 2 weeks off and we are busy! Today the students are very tired! (And quiet!)

We went to Spanish today and practiced the body part names and the numbers through 100!

In Religion, we have been discussing the signs of God ~ Jesus, the angel, Gabriel, etc.

In math, we are learning about size, shorter & taller! And we will measure things with linking cubes today.

In Social Studies and Science, we are starting new units discussing the weather and seasons. We will make a weather wheel today.

Our field trip to Stevie B's is coming up on Wednesday, January 26. We will see what happens behind the scenes there, we have been talking about where and how different things are made in social studies and this will explain how the pizza is made! The $8.00 per child and permission slip is due on Tuesday, January 11. All parents are welcome to ride the bus and have fun with us on this field trip!
