Science Lab - Seeds

 We began our unit on PLANTS this week and started with seeds!

We examined a lima bean seed and took the seed coat off, found the embryo inside and looked at the food that the plant eats using our hand lens.

We then looked at many different foods and distinguished whether it was a fruit by checking to see if it had seeds.  Mrs. Tucker told us that the word vegetable is a kitchen word and that any food that has a seed is a FRUIT.  We found that avocado, strawberries, cucumbers, peppers, blueberries and beans are fruit.
