Do You Have a Writer's Eye?

Snowman Family Project

Does the car go farther with a higher ramp?
We worked in pairs to make a 1 book and 2 book high ramp.
Our question was: Does the car go farther with a 1 book ramp, or a 2 book ramp?
The students used a toy car and released it at the top of the ramp,
then used yarn to measure how far the car went.
They tried it with different cars, and varied the height of the ramp.
We concluded that the car goes farther the higher the ramp is.
Can we lift it? Yes, we can!
We used a homemade balance with a load full of 25 pennies on one end.
Our question was: Can we lift it with one penny?
We moved the fulcrum to different spots on the balance and
tried different amounts of pennies as our force.
We were able to lift the load of 25 pennies with only one penny!
