Center Time, Sept, 19

These students put the alphabet cards in order around the table from A to Z!

These students are working on finding the letters in their name and then writing them on the board.

These students are coloring a picture of Noah, who they just heard
a story and song about in Religion class!

These students are cutting, sorting and pasting pictures of
items that are plants and animals ~ this center is cross-curriculum with Math and Science.

Reading Lesson

Part of today's reading lesson was held outside on the blacktop.
Each student was given a parking spot on the blacktop as their "paper".
They had to write their name on the "paper" and then write their ABC's and numbers 1-10.
When they completed both of these tasks, they could draw a picture!

Love Changes It All

We listened to Mr. Jeff this morning.
He did some magic tricks for us,
then told us what to do if someone
UPSETS us.
He said rule #1 is DON'T GET UPSET.
Rule #2 is TREAT THEM LIKE A FRIEND.

Student Pledge

The students say the SPS Student Pledge every day.
It is based on the Mission Statement for our school.
As a member of the St. Pius Catholic School Community,
I will strive to follow the mission of Jesus as I
Study, Pray and Serve.

Silent Reading Time

We practiced reading silently on a beanbag, reading rug, little rocker, or pillow today!
We will be working on "stamina", reading quietly for longer periods of time.
First the students read an easy reader called "The Garden" with all easy words and
pictures that the students were able to read on their own.
When they read that book three times, they were able to "read"
a book of their choosing from the book shelf.
They did a GREAT job!

Kindergarten Weekly for 9/13/19

New Morning Greeting!

We have a new welcome into our classroom each day!
These shapes are on the wall next to where the students line up every day.
When the bell rings, the students will touch the greeting that they want from me.
If they touch the music notes, we will do a little dance together.
If they touch the heart, they will get a hug.
If they touch the hands, I will give them a high five.
As we become more familiar with this, the student of the week will have a turn to do the greeting with them, too!
